IECF Charitable Giving Team Members with Scott Discount: Paula Myles, Director of Donor Services; Scott Discount, Morgan Stanley Financial Advisor; Brie Griset Smith, Chief Development Officer; Michael Hinkle, Charitable Giving Officer/CV

The IECF Charitable Giving Team was proud to participate in the 4th Annual Philanthropy Summit, presented in the Coachella Valley by The Stonewall Group at Morgan Stanley and Scott Discount, Financial Advisor and Senior Portfolio Manager.

The event featured a fast-paced, engaging “speed dating” session. Ten charities presented to a room full of nonprofit leaders, change-makers, and philanthropists. It was dynamic, informative, and brought energy and fun to the experience, especially when speakers went past the five-minute limit and were playfully “played off” by Oscars-style music!

In addition to IECF, participating organizations included the Williams Institute, Cathedral City Senior Center, Read With Me, DAP Health, Galilee Center, Palm Springs Public Library Foundation, and others, each doing critical work to strengthen our communities. Michael Hinkle, Charitable Gift Officer for the Coachella Valley, presented on Best Practices in Philanthropy.

Also at the event, IECF Board Chair Jesse Melgar announced the official launch of the Out in the IE LGBTQ+ Empowerment Fund, dedicated to advancing equity, dignity, and opportunity for LGBTQ+ individuals and communities across the Inland Empire and the Coachella Valley. Scott Discount will chair the leadership and grant committee. Celebrations of the Fund are planned and will take place in the coming months. Stay tuned!
