Professional Advisors play a critical role in the success of IECF. And in the case of one Professional Advisor, IECF played a critical role in igniting a successful career. In 1989, as Tami Watson was receiving her A.A. Degree from Riverside Community College, IECF awarded her a Charles L. Brouse Scholarship, named after the founder of IECF, so that Tami could pursue her Bachelor’s Degree at California State University, San Bernardino.
Today, that same student—now named Tami Sipos—is a CPA and Partner at Gallina, LLP and a Champion of IECF. In order to receive the distinction of a Champion, a Professional Advisor must either establish an endowment or a fund in their own name or in the name of their family, or refer a client who then establishes an endowment or fund at IECF. In mid-December, a client was referred to Tami from the trust department of a bank. Tami had just learned about IECF’s Professional Advisor Compact, which allows the bank to continue managing the client’s assets, but allows the use of those assets to open a charitable fund at IECF.
“This was a perfect fit,” said Tami. “The Compact allowed my client to receive a tax deduction in the year of an extraordinary event while allowing him time to choose which charitable organizations he would like to help with his contributions.” Tami Sipos has been married 20 years to Jeff Sipos, the school principal at Etiwanda Elementary in San Bernardino. Mother of two boys, ages 13 and 16. First contact with TCF: Charles L. Brouse Scholarship recipient in 1989. First Professional contact with TCF: At the Riverside Estate Planning Council, will serve as a Board Member of IECF as of January 1, 2015.
