Estate planning is one of the most heartfelt decisions a person can make. It’s an expression of what we care about, who we want to lift up, and the impact we hope will continue long after our lifetime. At IECF, we have the honor of walking alongside donors who are building that future through legacy gifts, donor advised funds, and charitable bequests that will serve this region for generations.

Brian and Lori Rennie

Brian and Lori Rennie designed The Brian and Lori Rennie Legacy Fund to open doors for young people. Their vision was formed through a mutual love of Joshua Tree and a desire to help kids experience the natural world, spark curiosity through outdoor learning, and create pathways into science and technology. Their legacy fund will enable us to support outdoor education experiences and STEM opportunities so that more students can step into a future they may not have imagined.

The Brinker Family

Pat Brinker honored her late husband’s life in the classroom by establishing The Charles “Chuck” Brinker Scholarship Fund. Chuck taught math and inspired generations of students. Today, the fund supports local scholars who pursue mathematics and related fields. Each year, Pat and her daughters will stay close to the process, reading applications and celebrating awardees. Their family’s story continues in the achievements of students who share Chuck’s love for learning.

Many donors also choose to support the backbone of our mission by making an estate gift to the Here for Good Fund. This permanent community endowment keeps IECF responsive and steady. It allows us to meet urgent needs, back promising ideas, and sustain long-term partnerships across Riverside and San Bernardino counties. When donors invest in Here for Good, they give our region the local leadership and resources it needs, year after year.

Our role is to make legacy giving clear, personal, and aligned with each donor’s goals. Some donors create a fund now and add to it through estate . Others name a donor advised fund or the Here for Good Fund as a beneficiary of a will, trust, or retirement account. All of these choices carry forward the values that make this region stronger.

A legacy gift says, “I care about this place, and I want that care to keep flowing.” It puts scholarships in reach, sends young people into parks and classrooms, keeps our shared safety net strong, and so much more—all while honoring the passions and commitments of the donor.
